Found Freedoms of the Heart

An April Full Moon blessing for the new beginnings of Spring and found freedoms of the Heart.

For Light and Darkness:
“Light cannot see inside things.
That is what the dark is for:
Minding the interior,
Nurturing the draw of growth
Through places where death
In its own way turns to Life.”

For Shifting Seasons:
“The tight solitude of a seed,
Allowing it time
To shed the grip of former form
And give way to a deeper generosity
that will one day send it forth,
A tree into springtime,
May all that holds you
Fall from its hungry ledge
Into the fecund surge of your Heart.”

~John O’Donohue in “Bless the Space Between Us”

After The Emptying – The Filling

“All this is full. All that is full. From fullness, fullness comes. When fullness is taken from fullness, fullness still remains.” ~ Shvetashvatara Upanishad

Jars from January’s Wolf Full Moon medicine making and an audience with the High Priestess and Shamans.

And under this quiet and still blanket of Winter, I’ve been gathering with this collection of teachers. They speak of old Earth Wisdom, the kind that has been passed along the ages. The kind that lingers in our bones. “In Winter, when the green earth lies resting beneath a blanket of snow, this is the time for storytelling. The storytellers begin by calling upon those who came before who passed the stories down to us, for we are only messengers.”

Seasons Of The Soul

12191039_10153645892162457_6844719023140013418_n

Things seen and unseen, known and unknown
What is shown and what is hidden
And the medicine of time and readiness.

This October Full Moon‬ has me straining Rose petal tincture and contemplating our cycles of hiding. We are continuously changing, whether we truly notice it or not, and at times these changes bring us into the light while other times we’d rather stay in the shadows. Neither is good or bad but simply the different seasons of our souls.

“HIDING is a way of staying alive. Hiding is a way of holding ourselves until we are ready to come into the light. Hiding is one of the brilliant and virtuoso practices of almost every part of the natural world.

Hiding is underestimated. Hiding done properly is the internal faithful promise for a proper future emergence. What is real is almost always to begin with, hidden, and does not want to be understood by the part of our mind that mistakenly thinks it knows what is happening. What is precious inside us does not care to be known by the mind in ways that diminish its presence.

Hiding is creative, necessary and beautifully subversive of outside interference and control. Hiding leaves life to itself, to become more of itself. Hiding is the radical independence necessary for our emergence into the light of a proper human future.”

Excerpted from “Hiding” in Consolations: The Solace, Nourishment and Underlying Meaning of Everyday Words by David Whyte

A Full Moon Prayer

On the cusp of one season ending, another beginning, Earth teach me to continuously keep my Heart Open to the movement within cycles. ‪

{We are seasons}

“Earth teach me stillness
as the grasses are stilled with light.
Earth teach me suffering
as old stones suffer with memory.
Earth teach me humility
as blossoms are humble with beginning.
Earth teach me caring
as the mother who secures her young.
Earth teach me courage
as the tree which stands alone.
Earth teach me limitation
as the ant which crawls on the ground.
Earth teach me freedom
as the eagle which soars in the sky.
Earth teach me resignation
as the leaves which die in the fall.
Earth teach me regeneration
as the seed which rises in the spring.
Earth teach me to forget myself
as melted snow forgets its life.
Earth teach me to remember kindness
as dry fields weep with rain.”

From Breath

From Breath - Paper Prayers 2

We are already connected
we are not some being apart
merely another creature looking
for the way
through

pay close attention
with just as much curiosity
stay open to the outcome.

Resting In The Infinite

cd9093db86a0ce5795ec51316f8b222b

These words are speaking right to my heart:

{The Well of Stars} by David Whyte

“… But it takes a little while to get there,
all the unburdening
and the laying down
and the willingness
to really tire yourself,
and then step by step,
the way
the poets through time
generously gave themselves
to us,
walking pilgrims
through doubt,
combining their fear,
their fierceness and their faith.

And you now,
in the front of the room
under the fluorescent light
by the reflected window,
hiding all the stars
you have forgotten…

There, for all to see,
the well of stars,
and the great night from which you were born.”

After last night’s Honey Full Moon, I took all that full moon juju, that rocked and shook me into looking at things a bit differently, and tucked it in this medicine pouch. It whispers a reminder to see joy in all the little things and just choose happy.
