The Blood-Thorn Witch

Beneath the Sun and Moon,
Rooted deep in Shadow,
Always reaching up to the Stars.

Rose thorns and Blackthorn wood for the Blood-Thorn Witch.

Tis the season, the veil is thinning.

An Altar For October

AnAltarForOctober2017

Hello sweet October: How I’m elated to be with the chill in your air, the letting go of the leaves in your trees, and the quieting after the harvest season before the blanketing of snow.

This is our Waning Time. The thinning of the Veil and the season of remembrance. Like the trees we are to let go and let rest until the next promising bud of Spring.

Giving Back What Isn’t Ours To Carry

I’ve come to the Rich Waters.
To the Mother Womb of depths;
to return something that was not mine to carry.

I’ve climbed to the Windy Peaks.
To Father Sky’s vast expanse;
to release something that was not mine to carry.

I’ve pressed my face to the Dark Earth.
To the fecund under belly;
to bury something that was not mine to carry.

This was never mine to carry,
and so I let it go back into the World.

Rebuilding Altars

Dedicating them to The Great Mother:

To the Dark Goddesses,
to the Inner Flame of Re-Creation,
to standing unapologetically in Truth.

In Truth.

Let the rest burn away.

All That We Can Sense But Cannot See

18157963_10155120780332457_2188883547547425626_n

It can be so simple; a sound made sacred, a lingering fragrance observed, a few words strung together in Prayer.

Ritual is when time is held still, for a moment, and our attention is turned to what is right in front of us, to what we are offering right now beyond ourselves.

Allowing a natural exchange with the breath, with stillness, and with what we can only sense but often cannot see.

Every Day Is Earth Day

We can ALL be Earth Protectors, in small and big ways.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. If we always keep this beautiful green and blue Planet in our Hearts, if we always keep ALL of this Planet’s inhabitants in our Hearts, and if we remain Thankful for all that this Planet give to us to sustain us every day, our whole Life then becomes a Prayer to Mama Gaia, to Mother Earth, to Pachamama. Wouldn’t then every action be seen through this lens and better choices to support this Planet and all it’s Eco Systems be made?

It can be simple. It can be as simple as replacing little things here and there and slowly ingraining this way of thinking into our everyday. Making sustainable choices that are small but will have a big impact:

Do you buy plastic straws? Stop purchasing them and invest in a few reusable stainless steel straws instead.

Do you buy plastic water bottles? Stop purchasing them and invest in a good reusable water bottle. The market is saturated with all kinds of great reusable water bottles made from stainless steal, ceramic or glass.

Do you use and take the plastic bag option when buying goods? Bring your own cloth bags instead. You might forget sometimes, but as you keep remembering it becomes a habit. I always keep several cloth bags in the trunk of my car and one in my purse. It becomes second nature to have reusable bags with you.

These plastics and all plastics are the cause of the plastic trash epidemic that is overwhelming landfills, our Oceans and waterways, and in the bellies of the Water inhabitants literally choking the life out of them.

We can choose better, because EARTH DAY is EVERY DAY.

These are just a few suggestions to start changing the way we interact with this Earth. There are SO MANY more actions that can be taken.

This Planet deserves our efforts, because without it there is no Life for us to live.

Listen To The Stones

17201144_10154964764962457_5436197804155052076_n

The Stones they sing to me
retelling of tales
as old as time itself.

The Wind it whispers to me
and I can hear all the
spoken hymns and prayers.

The Water it soothes me
comforting me with
depths beyond the surface.

The Earth she holds me
reminding me of
the solid nature of
this human experience.
