Sometimes the only way home is the long way.
I took this quite literally the other day as I decided to walk home. After a while my bag was seemingly getting heavier on my shoulder with every step and my feet began to ache a little. Just as I started to regret my decision I came upon a patch of these beauties.
Anemone canadensis, or meadow anemone, spoke to me both literally and figuratively of the rewards of taking the longer way. Yes, there may have been a quicker and easier way home, but in taking the longer-not-so-easy way I got to enjoy the beauty around me. Sometimes in our day to day, as well as on our spiritual path, there is more to see, experience and learn while taking the longer way. Sometimes the longer way helps us to open our eyes and hearts to more of the beauty around us.
